message from executive director
As the new Executive Director of the Bob Hayes Track Meet, I find it to be a very humbling but exciting challenge to Keep, Build and Enhance what the founders along with longtime meet director James” Coach” Day created over 58 years ago. The Bob Hayes Invitational Track Meet is one of the premier high school track meets in the nation.
Looking back over my years as a participant in this historic meet I remember the thrill of being a Bob Hayes Champion and realizing that if you win at the Bob Hayes, you can win anywhere”. This holds true for many who have participated and gone on to achieve some awesome things in track and field as well as other successful endeavors in other fields.
The venue is new, but the excitement, passion, partnerships, and excellent running of the Bob Hayes Track Meet will remain second to none.
For the last 38 years, I have been the Bob Hayes Invitational Meet announcer. Olympic and Super Bowl Champion Bob Hayes along with former meet director James “Coach” Day would always say, “Greg, make this a great experience for everyone and keep it about the kids"!
That is the challenge I accepted and with your support, we will achieve this for all our young participants.
Gratefully,
